Credit Manager

A credit manager is a professional who works in credit risk management, credit assessment, credit investigation, and credit management consulting for or individuals. The core of their work is to help institutions or individuals prevent credit risks and improve credit levels through systematic credit management.

 

Main Job Responsibilities:

 

- credit investigation: Collect credit information of businesses or individuals, including financial status, performance records, business operations, credit reports, etc., and verify the authenticity of the information.

 Perform credit assessment: Use credit rating models and analysis methods to quantify the credit status of businesses or individuals, and determine credit levels.

- Develop credit policies: Design credit policies as customer credit limits and payment terms for businesses, balancing business development and risk control.

- Manage credit risk: Monitor changes in customer credit, warn of potential default risks, collection strategies, and handle overdue accounts and other credit issues.

- Provide credit consulting: Offer professional advice such as credit repair and credit management system construction for businesses or individuals.

Professional Qualifications Requirements:

 

- Typically require a background in finance, economics, accounting, law, etc., and be familiar with credit management theories, credit regulations ( as the "Regulations on the Administration of Credit Reporting Industry"), and credit assessment tools.

- In China, there is a national professional qualification certification for "Creditagers," which requires passing theoretical exams and practical assessments. Some practitioners will also obtain international credit management related certificates.

- Must possess strong information analysis capabilities, risk judgment skills, communication and coordination abilities, and strictly adhere to confidentiality principles and professional ethics.

 

Employment Fields:

 

- Mainly work in financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies securities companies, credit departments of enterprises, credit investigation agencies, credit rating companies, asset management companies, etc., and also provide support for the credit system construction of government departments
