Artifact Restorer is a professional who is engaged in the judgment of the historical, artistic and scientific value of cultural relics or art, the analysis of preservation status, and the reinforcement, cleaning, completion, and surface protection of the artifacts. The following is a specific introduction:

 

- Occupational Category: to different restoration objects, it can be divided into 13 types of occupations, such as fresco and colored sculpture cultural relics restorer, textile cultural relics restore, metal cultural relics restorer, stone cultural relics restorer, ceramic cultural relics restorer, paper and painting cultural relics restorer, etc.

- Main Content: Analyze the material, production technology, damage, and mechanism of occurrence of the artifact, compile the protection and restoration plan; clean the surface of the artwork; pre-inforce or reinforce the artifact; complete, glue, and surface full color of the damaged parts of the artwork; protect the surface of the artwork; preserve photos, drawings, documents and other restoration information.

- Occupational Skill Level: It is divided into five levels, namely, Grade 5/Junior Worker, Grade 4/Intermediate Worker Grade 3/Senior Worker, Grade 2/Technician, and Grade 1/Senior Technician.

- Occupational Ability Characteristics: It required to have flexible fingers and arms, abundant physical strength, coordinated movements; have certain learning, computing, judging, and R&D capabilities; have a strong sense of color and ability to detect fine details; have certain drawing or sculpture foundation and spatial sense; have certain expressive and communicative abilities.

- Employment Prospects: At present, half of cultural relics in China's cultural system are damaged to varying degrees, and the number of cultural relics restorers is relatively small, with a large talent gap and good employment.
